Alexander Lucius Twilight (1795–1857) was a pioneering African American educator, minister, and politician who became the first Black person to graduate from a U.S. college (Middlebury, 1823) and the first elected to a state legislature (Vermont, 1836). He built the historic granite Athenian Hall and served as a prominent educator in Brownington, Vermont.
